Há São João no Mercado!
Grilled sardines, toy hammers in hand, and balloons filling the sky – São João is the soul of Porto and one of the most magical nights of the year.
From June 6th to July 7th, Mercado Bom Sucesso is hosting special activities for everyone who celebrates this festivity with the true spirit of Porto.

São João’s Night
São João wouldn’t be São João without three things: great food, balloons in the sky, and traditional music.
On June 23rd (Monday), the party is right here!
6:30 PM – 7:30 PM: São João Warm-Up with DJ Emanuel
7:30 PM – 9:00 PM: Siga a Farra concert
9:00 PM – 10:00 PM: São João Dance Party with DJ UGO

São João Balloon Exhibition
At night, the sky fills with color – and from June 6th to July 7th, Mercado Bom Sucesso will be filled with handmade balloons by craftsman and master balloon artist Luciano Britto. You’re invited to come admire them!
Balloon-Making Workshop
Watching them float is nice, but learning how to make them? Even better!
On June 15th (Sunday), from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, come build your own São João’s balloon.
Free admission – by order of arrival (max. 20 participants).
Paper Sardine Workshop
This year, sardines aren’t just on your plate – they’re also made of paper!
On June 22nd (Saturday), from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, create your own colorful paper sardine at Mercado Bom Sucesso. Let your creativity shine!
